Blue and red are the colors representing St. Michael's College. The emblem in the middle of a long square flag with red above and blue below is a sailing ship sailing through the sea with a star in the sky to guide it. From the base to the top of the condensed shield-shaped symbol, olive tree leaf branches flank each side, a symbol of peace. The symbol now has a broad shield shape. Its award phrase 'QUIS UT DEUS' is inscribed across the emblem. At the bottom is written in English St. Michael's College Batticaloa.
